Ensure that the mower has been stopped and that the engine has been turned off before you attempt to change the filter. The parking brake must also be set while the mower is parked over a flat level surface. Carefully detach the main air filter cover once you have unfastened all the primary screws outside the housing. Clean out the area around the air filter housing before you take out the filter canister – ensure that you do so carefully and avoid getting an debris inside the filter tube. Once you have done this, carefully extract the filter canister and remove the main filter element from inside. Clean out the filter element by tapping it on a hard surface or with a soft brush. If you are unable to clean the filter adequately, it may be time to replace it with a new unit. Before inserting the filter back into the tube, clean out the inside of the canister. After this, you may proceed to insert the filter element and replace it with its housing in the mower. Fasten the housing by securing it with all the screws.
